Part VI Review
This review mixes all four Part VI chapters together with no chapter labels, so the first job on each question is to recognize which skill it calls for. The questions follow the order of the chapters, but on the real ACT the same skills arrive in any order.
Use this quick map as you work.
- Rates, percentages, and proportions: percent change is the change divided by the original value; percentage points are a plain subtraction; direct proportions are solved by cross-multiplying, and inverse proportions keep a fixed product (more workers, less time).
- Measurement and unit conversion: multiply or divide by the factor once for length, square the factor for area, cube it for volume, and convert distance and time separately in a compound rate such as miles per hour to feet per second.
- Averages in context: sum = average times count; weight each value in a weighted average; average speed is total distance divided by total time, not the average of two speeds.
- Multi-step problems: apply sequential percent changes one at a time, and finish every step, including a final unit conversion.
Work each question, check your answer against the wrong choices (they usually match a common mistake), and then review any chapter whose questions slowed you down.
