AP World History · Lesson 4

Cumulative review: Units 1-2

Mixed retrieval, a cross-unit comparison, and a source sprint that tie together state building and trade networks, c. 1200-1450.

Cumulative review: Units 1-2

No new historical content is introduced here. This checkpoint mixes retrieval from both units to build recall across a wider span before Unit 3 begins.

How to use this checkpoint

  • Take the six mixed-retrieval items under a timer, writing one or two sentences each from memory before you look back at the units.
  • Answer the cross-unit comparison prompt in two to three sentences. The skill is seeing that one event can serve different arguments depending on the claim.
  • Complete the mixed source sprint in about eight minutes: read each source for date, creator, and what it can and cannot prove before answering.
  • Finish with the evidence-transfer task, which asks you to find the boundary of an example, not only its uses.

Check each answer against the model answer shown after you submit, and note which unit each missed item came from so you can reread that section of the lesson.
