Statistics and Probability Timed Practice
Statistics and Probability accounts for roughly 12 to 15 percent of the current scored Math blueprint. It now includes univariate data, bivariate relationships, formal inferential statistics, probability rules, and counting. This focused mini-section intentionally concentrates those skills under time pressure.
Directions and timing
- Length: 20 questions in 22 minutes.
- Calculator permitted. Choose the best answer for every question and leave none blank.
- Work the whole section in one sitting, under real timing, before checking anything.
What the section covers, in order
The questions move from claim-testing and center and spread, through distribution shape, normal distributions and z-scores, study design, margin of error and sampling variability, probability, counting, and bivariate models. The set closes with a model-comparison item and a high-range stats-and-percent chain, so the last questions are the most demanding.
How to review
Afterward, look back at each miss and name the actual cause instead of only the wrong answer:
- content you did not know;
- a question that did not trigger a rule you did know;
- a calculation or sign slip;
- the wrong requested object, such as a predicted value instead of a residual;
- a slower tool choice, such as working by hand when the calculator was faster;
- time lost before exiting a stuck question.
Sorting your misses into these categories shows whether you need more content review, better rule recognition, or better pacing.
