Domain Mastery Set B: Advanced Math
Set B is the Advanced Math half of the domain mastery practice. Like the other three sets it is short and deliberately mixed: not a chapter quiz asking whether a method works right after it was taught, but a test of whether the same method can still be recognized once neighboring topics are mixed in.
What this set covers
Twelve questions on equivalent expressions and identities, exponents rewritten to a common base, relationships between a quadratic's roots and its coefficients (sum and product of roots), axis of symmetry from equal outputs, quadratic scale from a point, radical and rational equations where an extraneous or excluded value must be caught, tangency between a line and a parabola, function domains, growth factors of exponential functions, and building a useful equivalent expression from a given relation.
Directions
- Do not look back at the chapters while working through the set.
- Mark any item where the first useful move does not come within about twenty seconds.
- Ten questions are student-produced response; two are multiple choice.
- For equations with variables in a denominator or under a radical, always check the answer against the original equation before you commit.
After finishing, read each solution and name the structure behind it (an identity, a Vieta relationship, a symmetry, a discriminant, a domain trap) so you can recognize it sooner next time.
