Domain Mastery Set C: Problem-Solving and Data Analysis
Set C is the Problem-Solving and Data Analysis half of the domain mastery practice. It checks whether the quantitative-reasoning tools you learned still work when the problem does not announce which one it needs.
What this set covers
Twelve mixed questions on unit conversion (including squared units and compound rates), nested and shared-base percents, conditional probability in both directions (finding a probability and recovering a frequency), how a linear transformation changes standard deviation, what a histogram can and cannot reveal, margin of error and confidence intervals, choosing between linear, quadratic, and exponential models from a table, and the difference between random selection and random assignment when judging what a study can support.
Directions
- Do not look back at the chapters while working through the set.
- Mark any item where the first useful move does not come within about twenty seconds.
- Eight questions are student-produced response; four are multiple choice. For percent answers, enter just the number.
- For probability, circle the conditioning group before you write a denominator; for study questions, ask how people were chosen and how they were placed in groups.
After finishing, review each solution and name the trap: a base that changes, a denominator that switches, a scale factor that must be squared, or a conclusion the design cannot support.
