Domain Mastery Set D: Geometry and Trigonometry
Set D completes the four domain mastery sets with Geometry and Trigonometry. Geometry questions often hide the key step: a right triangle you must find, a theorem you must recognize, or a coordinate fact you must combine with a circle. This set tests whether you still see those hidden structures when the chapter label is gone.
What this set covers
Twelve mixed questions on triangle congruence criteria (including why SSA fails), the way similarity scales lengths and areas, a square's diagonal and the hidden 45-45-90 triangle, tangent lines and the right angle they make with a radius, equal tangent segments from an external point, the cone's slant height and volume, tangent slope in the coordinate plane, unit-circle coordinates and quadrant signs, deciding whether a point is on, inside, or outside a circle, and chained angle reasoning with parallel lines and exterior angles.
Directions
- Do not look back at the chapters while working through the set.
- Mark any item where the first useful move does not come within about twenty seconds.
- Six questions are student-produced response; six are multiple choice. Several questions use a figure, so study it before you compute.
- Redraw a diagram on scratch paper whenever one is not provided, and mark every given length and angle.
After finishing, review each solution and name the hidden structure you needed: a right triangle, a perpendicular radius, an exterior angle, or a distance from a center.
